January 2006: SVG Data Widgets

RO IT Systems unveiled the SVG Data Widgets Framework for SVG, based on Ajax and JSON, two web2.0 cornerstone technologies. Using the RO IT Systems-designed framework, content developers can easily build web live graphical content using a simple XML markup without any programming. December 2003: Bioperl 1.4 released. Uses SVG.pm to provide SVG graphics support

Officially organized in 1995 and existing informally for several years prior, The Bioperl Project is an international association of developers of open source Perl tools for bioinformatics, genomics and life science research. Version 1.4 was released on December 23, 2003. Visit the Bioperl home page

November 2003: SVG::GD 0.07 released

With the new SVG::GD module for Perl, it is now possible to generate advanced SVG graphics with existing GD-based Perl programs with minimal code modifications. View the SVG::GD Demonstration on this server Samples of application output using the alpha version of SVG::GD on top of GD.

May 2003: GISMax: A Spatial Data Editor

Using SVG to generate a spatial-data interface

SVG GIS tool thumbnailGISMax: A Spatial Data Tool

Launch GISMax

GISMax demonstrates the implementation of a simple tool to view and manipulate spatial data. A drag-and-drop application with full form-submission support which allows users to generate data markers, assign attrubutes, relocate them to other locations, and store state within a MySQL database

Sample uses of this application would include highway gas-station locators, spatial restorant listings, search-and-salvage surveys, accident investigation tools, GIS information gathering, etc. The design and construction of GISMax is the topic of Ronan Oger's presentation at SVGOpen 2003.

Launch OrganiMax

OrganiMax is an example implementation dedicated SVG/HTML webservice application which deliver the content from an advanced XML database. The application is designed to deliver content enriched html-encapsulated svg or as pure svg, maximising application effectiveness. Unlike servlets or php, by embedding the webservice within the application allows maximum control over behaviour and removes dependency on complex or expensive third-party software such as Apache or Websphere, reducing the application total cost of ownership.
